Habitat
Marine, pelagic in tropical and sub-tropical waters.

Range (Guide)

It is an endemic breeder of the Gal�pagos Islands, and is largely sedentary, although individuals are commonly seen as far as the Oaxacan coast of Mexico.

Subspecies
Bannerman's Shearwater (Puffinus bannermani), Persian Shearwater (Puffinus persicus) (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) and Galapagos Shearwater (Puffinus subalaris) (SACC 2005) are lumped with Audubon's Shearwater (Puffinus lherminieri) following Brooke (2004).

Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Audubon's Shearwater (Puffinus lherminieri).

No subspecies.

Similar Species
Tropical Shearwater (Puffinus bailloni) which is blacker and has a longer tail.
