Subspecies
No subspecies.
Zoothera margaretae (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Makira Thrush (Zoothera margaretae) and Guadalcanal Thicketbird (Megalurulus turipavae) following Cain and Galbraith (1956).
Often treated as conspecific with Guadalcanal Thicketbird (Megalurulus turipavae). Has also been treated as a subspecies of New Britain Thrush (Zoothera talaseae), but this very inappropriate on basis of plumage.
