Habitat
Canopy and edge of mature or well-regenerated montane moist forest. From 2,200 m occasionally to as low as 550 m.

Range (Guide)

Indonesia, Malaysia.

Northern Borneo, from Mt Kinabalu southern along the spinal mountains to Mt Dulit and the Usun Apau Plateau and east to Kayan Mentarang.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Chloropsis cochinchinensis (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Javan Leafbird (Chloropsis cochinchinensis), Bornean Leafbird (Chloropsis kinabaluensis) and Jerdon's Leafbird (Chloropsis jerdoni) following Wells et al. (2003).

Specific name sometimes given as flavocincta, but original describer subsequently gave precedence to present name. Probably forms a superspecies with Javan Leafbird (Chloropsis cochinchinensis), Jerdon's Leafbird (Chloropsis jerdoni) and Yellow-throated Leafbird (Chloropsis palawanensis) and was for long regarded as a subspecies of Javan Leafbird (Chloropsis cochinchinensis), but differs in bill morphology and plumage, exhibits lesser degree of sexual size dimorphism (mean 3% versus 8%), and ranges approach or meet each other without evidence of intergradation.
