No subspecies.
Scytalopus femoralis (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Rufous-vented Tapaculo (Scytalopus femoralis ), White-crowned Tapaculo (Scytalopus atratus ), Bolivian Tapaculo (Scytalopus bolivianus ), Santa Marta Tapaculo (Scytalopus sanctaemartae ) and Long-tailed Tapaculo (Scytalopus micropterus ) following SACC (2005).
Previously treated as a subspecies of Rufous-vented Tapaculo (Scytalopus femoralis ).
