Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest. Also Subtropical and tropical lowland dry and moist shrubland, rural gardens and plantations. From sea-level to 2,000 m.

Range (Guide)

Papua New Guinea (B), Solomon Islands (B).

Solomon Is, from Buka and Bougainville through Shortlands, Choiseul, Santa Isabel and the Floridas to Guadalcanal.

Subspecies
Genus often merged into Halcyon. Forms a superspecies with Blue-and-white Kingfisher (Todiramphus diops), Lazuli Kingfisher (Todiramphus lazuli), New Britain Kingfisher (Todiramphus albonotatus), Forest Kingfisher (Todiramphus macleayii) and Vanuatu Kingfisher (Todiramphus farquhari).

No subspecies.
