Habitat
Formerly mature coastal forest. Now mature woodland on central plateaus, plantations and vegetable gardens, preferring a tall, closed canopy with a sparse understorey and ground vegetation but abundant leaf litter.
Seychelles, on islands of Frégate and Cousin. Introduced on Cousine and Aride.

Population
Estimated population is 180 (2010) and increasing.
Status EN
Habitat loss and predation by introduced and native species including, cats, rats are the main threats.

Food
Small soil invertebrates, but also fruit, fish dropped by tree-nesting terns.
Voice
Varied. Hoarse calls. A jumbled, melodic song.
Similar Species
In flight, with Common Myna (Acridotheres tristis) which has smaller, white wing-bars and white in tail visible in flight, and brown on back.
