Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest. Also, subtropical and tropical montane moist forest, mangroves, plantations.

Range (Guide)

Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands.

Buka, Bougainville, Shortland Is, Choiseul (and Arnavon I) and Santa Isabel (and Malakobi and Megapode), in northern Solomon Is.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Forms a superspecies with Bismarck Black Myzomela (Myzomela pammelaena), Black-headed Myzomela (Myzomela melanocephala), Crimson-rumped Myzomela (Myzomela eichhorni), Malaita Myzomela (Myzomela malaitae) and Sooty Myzomela (Myzomela tristrami), and formerly suggested that all may be conspecific. This group possibly closely related to the Cardinal Myzomela (Myzomela cardinalis) superspecies.
