Status EN
Pollution of forgaing areas, predation by introduced mammals, Western Gull (Larus occidentalis) and Barn Owl (Tyto alba), disturbance from human activity are the main threats.

Food
Planktonic crustaceans, small fish. Aggregations coinciding spatially and seasonally with the spawning aggregations of sardines and anchovies.
Similar Species
Very similar to Black Storm-Petrel (Hydrobates melania) but paler, smaller and with a relatively longer tail that is held upswept in flight.
