Subspecies
Often includes Stewart Shag (Leucocarbo chalconotus) and Chatham Shag (Leucocarbo onslowi) and all sometimes considered conspecific with Campbell Shag (Leucocarbo campbelli) complex (campbelli, ranfurlyi and colensoi).
No subspecies.
Similar Species
Pied Cormorant (Phalacrocorax varius) has white face, neck, black feet, no white patches on wings.
