Subspecies
Augur Buzzard (Buteo augur) and Archer's Buzzard (Buteo archeri) (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) have been lumped into Buteo augur following Dowsett and Forbes-Watson (1993) and the case presented by Clark (1996).
Forms superspecies with Archer's Buzzard (Buteo archeri) and Jackal Buzzard (Buteo rufofuscus). All sometimes considered conspecific.
No subspecies.
