Range (Guide)

Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland.

Vagrant to Zimbabwe.

South Africa, southern and central Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland, southern Mozambique and southern Botswana.

Estimated population is 10,000 - 100,000 (2010).

Subspecies
Forms superspecies with Augur Buzzard (Buteo augur) and Archer's Buzzard (Buteo archeri). All sometimes considered conspecific. Limited overlap with Augur Buzzard (Buteo augur) in central Namibia.
