Subspecies
In past, sometimes placed in genus Sphenurus. Closely allied to Pin-tailed Green-pigeon (Treron apicauda) and Sumatran Green-pigeon (Treron oxyurus), and these species may form a link between the African and other Asian Treron species. More distantly related to the Wedge-tailed Green-pigeon (Treron sphenurus) species-group.
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
seimundi (Robinson, 1910) - Mountains of Malay Peninsula. Also recorded in Bangkok area of southern Thailand, but possibly only vagrant.
modestus (Delacour, 1926) - Mountains of northern and central Laos and central and southern Vietnam (Annam, Cochinchina).
