Subspecies
Forms a superspecies with Common Paradise-kingfisher (Tanysiptera galatea), Biak Paradise-kingfisher (Tanysiptera riedelii) and Numfor Paradise-kingfisher (Tanysiptera carolinae). Commonly regarded as conspecific with Common Paradise-kingfisher (Tanysiptera galatea) and Biak Paradise-kingfisher (Tanysiptera riedelii), but morphological differences, combined with geographical isolation, support treatment as separate species.

No subspecies.
