Eastern Brazil, west of R Sío Francisco, in western Bahia and northern and north-western Minas Gerais; specimen allegedly collected in Paraná Valley (Goiás) now believed to have been mislabelled. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Moustached Woodcreeper (Xiphocolaptes falcirostris).
