South-eastern Colombia and western Brazil (eastern narrowly along Amazon to R Negro mouth in north, broadly east, south of Amazon, to R Madeira, crossing it occasionally in northern and, more often, in south), southern in lowlands east of Andes to north-central Bolivia. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Lettered Aracari (Pteroglossus inscriptus).
