South-eastern Colombia east of Andes (south of Meta), eastern Ecuador and western Brazil (upper R Negro) south to north-eastern Peru (south to upper R Ucayali); possibly also southern Venezuela (upper R Orinoco). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Yellow-billed Jacamar (Galbula albirostris).
