Subspecies
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Southern Mountain Cacique (Cacicus chrysonotus).
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
leucoramphus (Bonaparte, 1845) - Andes of western Venezuela (Táchira) and Colombia (all three cordilleras) south to south-eastern Ecuador (Loja). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Southern Mountain Cacique (Cacicus chrysonotus).
peruvianus Zimmer, JT, 1924 - Eastern slope of Andes of Peru (Amazonas south to Junín). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Southern Mountain Cacique (Cacicus chrysonotus).
