Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest. From sea-level - 1,300 m.

Range (Guide)

Colombia (B) (NB), Ecuador (B) (NB), Panama (B) (NB).

Atlantic slope of western Panama through Canal Zone (whence on both slopes) to Colombia west of eastern Andes, and western Ecuador.

Subspecies
Trogon viridis (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993; Stotz et al. 1996) has been split into Green-backed Trogon (Trogon viridis) and White-tailed Trogon (Trogon chionurus) following SACC (2009).

Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Green-backed Trogon (Trogon viridis).

No subspecies.
