Ash, 1986

Habitat
Inland wetlands.

Range (Guide)
North-eastern DRCongo, Rwanda, northern Burundi, Uganda (except E), western Kenya and north-western Tanzania. Probably a hybrid of Northern Brown-throated Weaver (Ploceus castanops) and Black-headed Weaver (Ploceus melanocephalus) or Golden-backed Weaver (Ploceus jacksoni).

Currently this species is not classified as a rarity in this country OR information has not been updated.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Now considered likely to be a hybrid between Northern Brown-throated Weaver (Ploceus castanops) and Black-headed Weaver (Ploceus melanocephalus) (2005).
