Subspecies
No subspecies.

Has been thought to form a superspecies with Green-headed Sunbird (Cyanomitra verticalis), possibly including also Cameroon Sunbird (Cyanomitra oritis) and Blue-headed Sunbird (Cyanomitra alinae). Specific name sororia, based on a specimen from Calandula (Malanje), in northern Angola, is a synonym of present name.
