Habitat
Rainforest, forest-edges, rural gardens, exotic plantations. Probably shows a preference for forest edge habitats during the dry season, moving to dense forest in the rainy season.
North-eastern and eastern Tanzania: eastern Usambaras (Mt Nilo), western Usambaras, Ngurus, Nguus, Udzungwas (including Ndundulu Mts) and Ulugurus.

Estimated population is 2,500 - 9,999 (2010) and decreasing.
Status VU
Forest loss through degradation and clearance for agriculture, human disturbance are the main threats.

Similar Species
Female Collared Sunbird (Hedydipna collaris) which also has iridescent upperparts, but bright yellow underparts.
