Temperate lowland, forests and shrublands and palm glades.

Rarity Status
Currently this species is not classified as a rarity in this country OR information has not been updated.

Status EX
Common before 1918, but plummeted to extinction following the arrival of black rat on the island in that year, and could not be found in 1928.

Extinct.

Food
Fruit and insects. Possibly seeds. Reportedly, other birds' eggs.

Nest
Cup-shaped, composed of palm fiber, grass, rootlets, lined with finer similar materials, in fork of a twig.

Eggs (Guide)
2 or 3; blue; pointed-oval; 22.5 x 14.5 mm.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Sometimes treated as conspecific with Slender-billed White-eye (Zosterops tenuirostris).
