Habits
Singly, in pairs or in groups of up to nine birds. Normally keeps within dense vegetation, restlessly foraging low down and occasionally perching in the open.
Voice
A duet consisting of 'tssipp tssipp' and 'burr burr'.

Subspecies
No subspecies.
Previously placed in genus Prinia, but differs in calls, behaviour and plumage. Genetic evidence suggests closer relationship to Apalis and Camaroptera. Sometimes considered a subspecies of White-chinned Prinia (Schistolais leucopogon), but differs in size, plumage and call; sister-species status supported by genetic analysis.
