Degradation of native vegetation by introduced grazing mammals, and the suppression of native bird populations by introduced cats, locust irruptions cut leaves, flowers and fruit from trees, potential developments and a new federal prison could destroy breeding habitat and increase the risk of accidental introduction of other invasive species, are the main threats.
