Habitat
Moist dwarf forest and ravines with a mixture of shrubs and trees. From 300 - 950 m.

Range (Guide)
Mexico (B).

Socorro I, in Revillagigedo Archipelago, 600 km west of mainland Mexico.
 
Rarity Status
Currently this species is not classified as a rarity in this country OR information has not been updated.

Population
Estimated population is 290 - 420 (2010) and stable.

Status CR
Degradation of native vegetation by introduced grazing mammals, and the suppression of native bird populations by introduced cats, locust irruptions cut leaves, flowers and fruit from trees, potential developments and a new federal prison could destroy breeding habitat and increase the risk of accidental introduction of other invasive species, are the main threats.

Food
Crab remains, small invertebrates and fruit.

Voice
A grating warble song. A loud 'whichoo' call. Northern Mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos) and Socorro Mockingbird (Mimus graysoni) mimic each other.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Recent genetic analysis suggests that it belongs in a clade that contains Northern Mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos), Tropical Mockingbird (Mimus gilvus), Bahama Mockingbird (Mimus gundlachii) and Chalk-browed Mockingbird (Mimus saturninus).

Similar Species
Northern Mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos) which is greyer with white wing-patches and outer rectrices.
