Subspecies
No subspecies.
Genus considered most closely related to, and putatively derived from, mainland Long-tailed Mockingbird (Mimus longicaudatus). Hybridization with Long-tailed Mockingbird (Mimus longicaudatus) recorded in captivity. Forms a superspecies with Espanola Mockingbird (Mimus macdonaldi), San Cristobal Mockingbird (Mimus melanotis) and Galapagos Mockingbird (Mimus parvulus) and all previously considered conspecific. Birds on Campeón somewehat smaller than those on Gardner-near-Floreana, but difference considered insufficient to warrant naming of geographical subspecies.
