All previously regarded as conspecific, but differ vocally. Extinct form woahensis (often erroneously spelt oahensis), from Oahu, previously treated as a full species, but was probably a subspecies of present species. • rutha (Bryan, 1908)   -  Molokai, in Hawaiian Is. Last reported 1994; possibly extinct.
  • woahensis ! (Bloxam, A, 1899)   -  Formerly Oahu. Extinct; last reported 1825. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Amaui (Myadestes woahensis).
