Peleng I, in Banggai Archipelago, and Taliabu, in Sula Archipelago.

Population
Estimated population is 20,000 - 49,999 (2011) and decreasing.

Status NT
Forest destruction, trade are the main threats.

Voice
A thin, high-pitched, upslurred call note. Song reported to be a typically thrush-like liquid series of notes.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Zoothera erythronota (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Red-backed Thrush (Geokichla erythronota) and Red-and-black Thrush (Geokichla mendeni) following Collar (2004).

Formerly treated as conspecific with Red-backed Thrush (Geokichla erythronota). Population on Taliabu apparently represents an undescribed subspecies, but details in need of clarification.
