Mayr, 1933

Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest. Not recorded in degraded forest. From sea-level - 500 m.

Range (Guide)
Solomon Islands (B) (NB).

Nendo in the Santa Cruz Islands of the Solomon Islands.
 
Rarity Status
Currently this species is not classified as a rarity in this country OR information has not been updated.

Population
Estimated population is 1,000 - 2,499 (2010) and decreasing.

Status EN
Habitat loss through logging is presumably the main threat. Predation by introduced mammals may also be a concern.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Clytorhynchus nigrogularis (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Black-throated Shrikebill (Clytorhynchus nigrogularis) and Nendo Shrikebill (Clytorhynchus sanctaecrucis) (2006).

Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Black-throated Shrikebill (Clytorhynchus nigrogularis).
