melaschistos (Hodgson, 1836) - Northern Pakistan (Murree Hills), and Himalayas east to north-eastern India (upper Assam), southern China (south-eastern Xizang east to north-western Yunnan) and western and northern Myanmar. Non-breeding south to northern and north-eastern India, south-eastern Bangladesh (Chittagongs) and north-western Thailand.
intermedia (Hume, 1877) - Central, eastern and south-eastern China (Gansu east to Hebei, south to Guangxi and Guangdong). Non-breeding southern Myanmar, southern Thailand, southern Vietnam, southern China and Taiwan.
avensis (Blyth, 1852) - South-western China (Sichuan, Yunnan, southern Guizhou), southern and eastern Myanmar, northern Thailand, northern Laos and northern and central Vietnam. Non-breeding also south to southern Myanmar, southern Thailand and southern Indochina.
saturata (Swinhoe, 1870) - North-eastern and central Vietnam (eastern Tonkin, northern and central Annam) and Hainan I. Non-breeding north-western Thailand, southern Laos, Cambodia and southern Annam.
