Salvadori, 1876
Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest, swamp forest. From sea-level - 750 m.
Indonesia (B), Papua New Guinea (B).
Yapen I and western and northern mainland New Guinea from Rubi (western Geelvink Bay) eastern discontinuously in lowlands to mouth of Ramu R and, in south, from area of Mimika R to Setekwa R.

Subspecies
No subspecies.
Sympatric with Glossy-mantled Manucode (Manucodia ater), Crinkle-collared Manucode (Manucodia chalybatus) or Trumpet Manucode (Phonygammus keraudrenii) at various localities, but no cases of hybridization recorded. Birds from Rubi (Geelvink Bay) described as subspecies rubiensis, but considered inseparable from those in rest of range.
