South-eastern Brazil in south-eastern Minas Gerais, southern Espírito Santo, north-eastern Sío Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

Subspecies
Members of genus form a well-defined clade, and appear to be closely related to Hypocnemis. Most closely related to Ochre-rumped Antbird (Drymophila ochropyga).
