Subspecies

The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
intermedia Taczanowski, 1884 - Eastern slope of Peruvian Andes, from La Libertad and San Martín south to Junín.
signata (Hellmayr, 1917) - Eastern slope of Andes in south-eastern Peru (Cuzco, Puno) and western Bolivia (La Paz, Cochabamba).
