Habitat
Subtropical and tropical moist lowland and montane forest. From 500 - 1,550 m.
Colombia, Ecuador, Peru.

Subspecies
Most closely allied with Flavescent Flycatcher (Myiophobus flavicans), Unadorned Flycatcher (Myiophobus inornatus) and Roraiman Flycatcher (Myiophobus roraimae).
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
- litae (Hartert, 1900) - Western slope of Andes in western Colombia and western Ecuador.
- phoenicomitra (Taczanowski & Berlepsch, 1885) - Eastern slope in eastern Ecuador and north-eastern Peru.
