Habitat
Primary forest, sometimes near palm plantations, areas where there exists a sparse undergrowth of herbaceous plants, bracken and moss, or a covering of rocks and large stones.

Subspecies
Bostrychia olivacea (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Olive Ibis (Bostrychia olivacea) and Dwarf Ibis (Bostrychia bocagei) following Collar and Stuart (1985).
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Olive Ibis (Bostrychia olivacea).
