Habitat
Dry open and partly wooded country, especially near human habitation.
Bangladesh (B), Cambodia (B), India (B), Laos (B), Malaysia (E) (B), Myanmar (B), Nepal (B), Thailand (E) (B), Vietnam (E) (B).
Lower Himalayas, from Kashmir through Nepal to Assam, and south-eastern into Indochina and northern Malay Peninsula.

Subspecies
Gyps indicus (Sibley and Monroe, 1990, 1993) has been split into Indian Vulture (Gyps indicus ) and Slender-billed Vulture (Gyps tenuirostris ) following Rasmussen and Parry (2001).
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Indian Vulture (Gyps indicus ).
No subspecies.
