Habitat
Tall grasslands comprising of dense, tangled, bush-covered swamp with low trees.

Range (Guide)
Cuba (B) (NB).

Zapata Swamp, west-central Cuba.
 
Rarity Status
Currently this species is not classified as a rarity in this country OR information has not been updated.

Population
Estimated population is 50 - 249 (2010) and decreasing.

Status CR
Predation by introduced mongooses and rats, dry-season burning are the main threats.

Voice
A bouncing 'cutucutu-cutucutu-cutucutu'. Also limpkin-like 'kuvk kuck'.

Similar Species
Spotted Rail (Pardirallus maculatus) which is heavily spotted.
