Subspecies
Forms superspecies with Mindanao Bleeding-heart (Gallicolumba crinigera), Mindoro Bleeding-heart (Gallicolumba platenae), Negros Bleeding-heart (Gallicolumba keayi) and Sulu Bleeding-heart (Gallicolumba menagei). All have been considered conspecific by some authorities.
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
- griseolateralis Parkes, 1962 - Northern Luzon (northern Philippines).
- luzonica (Scopoli, 1786) - Central and southern Luzon and Polillo (northern Philippines).
- rubiventris Gonzales, 1979 - Vigo-Gigmoto watershed on Catanduanes (north-eastern Philippines).
