Central and north-eastern Colombia (Cauca Valley, Santa Marta, Santa Elena, central and eastern Andes) to western and northern Venezuela (Mérida, Cerro de Avila, Cumbre de Valencia, Paria Peninsula), and Trinidad and Tobago.

Subspecies
Like most of congeners, formerly placed in genus Oreopeleia. Sometimes considered conspecific with White-faced Quail-Dove (Zentrygon albifacies), and the two may form a superspecies. Birds from north-eastern Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago have sometimes been placed in subspecies trinitatis and those from Santa Marta Mts in subspecies infusca.

linearis (Prévost, 1843) - Mountains of Colombia, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago.
