Highlands of Peru and north-central Bolivia.

Subspecies
Appears to form a superspecies with Rufous-fronted Parakeet (Bolborhynchus ferrugineifrons). Formerly called Bolborhynchus andicolus, and in past regarded as a subspecies of Mountain Parakeet (Psilopsiagon aurifrons).

No subspecies.
