Subspecies
Forms a parapatric species pair with Pearly Parakeet (Pyrrhura lepida), with which sometimes considered conspecific. Complicated situation in which types of name perlata have proved to be immatures of the form long known as Pyrrhura rhodogaster, which name thus becomes a junior synonym of Pyrrhura perlata. As a consequence, the form (Pearly Parakeet) until now known as Pyrrhura perlata assumes its own next oldest name, Pyrrhura lepida.
