Subspecies
Forms a superspecies with Peach-fronted Parakeet (Eupsittula aurea).

The following 3 subspecies are recognised:

clarae (Moore, RT, 1937) - Western Mexico from Sinaloa to central Michoacán.
eburnirostrum (Lesson, R, 1842) - South-western Mexico from eastern Michoacán to Oaxaca.
canicularis (Linnaeus, 1758) - Pacific coast and foothills from southern Mexico (Chiapas) to western Costa Rica.
