In a hole of a tree, usually high up.
Eggs (Guide)
2; white; rounded; about 24 x 20 mm. Incubation: 21 - 25 days; by female.
Young
Fledge in 42 - 49 days.
Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
concinna (Shaw, 1791) - New South Wales, Victoria and SA.
didimus Mathews, 1915 - Tasmania.
Similar Species
Little Lorikeet (Glossopsitta pusilla), which is smaller, has a black bill, red patch on face and not cheek. Call is also different. Purple-crowned Lorikeet (Glossopsitta porphyrocephala) which is smaller, has red underwing coverts, and a purple crown.
