Voice
A deep, booming series of 'doo' notes, like that of Black-throated Coucal (Centropus leucogaster).

Subspecies
Black-throated Coucal (Centropus leucogaster) and Neumann's Coucal (Centropus neumanni) (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) have been lumped into Centropus leucogaster following Dowsett and Forbes-Watson (1993).

Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Black-throated Coucal (Centropus leucogaster).

No subspecies.
