Introduced to St Vincent and The Grenadines, Virgin Islands (U.S.) (E) (B) (NB).

About 10; white. Incubation: mainly be female.

Subspecies
Not recognised as a species by BirdLife International. Considered to be conspecific with Crested Bobwhite (Colinus cristatus).

Often considered conspecific with Crested Bobwhite (Colinus cristatus). Several subspecies have at times been considered full species. Subspecies nicaraguae no longer considered valid.

Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Crested Bobwhite (Colinus cristatus).

The following 6 subspecies are recognised:

  • incanus Friedmann, 1944   -  Southern Guatemala. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Crested Bobwhite (Colinus cristatus).
  • hypoleucus (Gould, 1860)   -  Western El Salvador and adjacent Guatemala. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Crested Bobwhite (Colinus cristatus).
  • leucopogon (Lesson, R, 1842)   -  South-eastern El Salvador and western Honduras. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Crested Bobwhite (Colinus cristatus).
  • leylandi (Moore, TJ, 1859)   -  North-western Honduras. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Crested Bobwhite (Colinus cristatus).
  • sclateri (Bonaparte, 1856)   -  South-western and central Honduras to north-western Nicaragua. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Crested Bobwhite (Colinus cristatus).
  • dickeyi Conover, 1932   -  North-western and central Costa Rica. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Crested Bobwhite (Colinus cristatus).
