Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:

  • inconspicuus Zimmer, JT, 1949   -  Andes from south-eastern Peru (Puno) south to north-western Bolivia (La Paz).
  • punctipectus Chapman, 1924   -  Andes of central Bolivia (eastern La Paz and Cochabamba).
  • canens Zimmer, JT, 1949   -  Andes of south-central Bolivia (western Santa Cruz).
