Eastern and southern Nicaragua (Zelaya Norte, Rivas), eastern Panama (east from Canal region) and extreme north-western Colombia (Chocó, Córdoba). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Southern Wing-banded Antbird (Myrmornis torquata).
