Currently this species is not classified as a rarity in this country OR information has not been updated.

Subspecies
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Espanola Cactus-finch (Geospiza conirostris).

The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

  • darwini Rothschild & Hartert, 1899   -  Darwin I and Wolf I, in extreme north-western Galapagos Is. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Espanola Cactus-finch (Geospiza conirostris).
  • propinqua Ridgway, 1894   -  Genovesa, in northern Galapagos Is. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Espanola Cactus-finch (Geospiza conirostris).
