Subspecies
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Snowy-browed Flycatcher (Ficedula hyperythra).

The following 8 subspecies are recognised:

  • rara (Salomonsen, 1977)   -  Mantalingajan Mts, in southern Palawan (western Philippines). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Snowy-browed Flycatcher (Ficedula hyperythra).
  • calayensis (McGregor, 1921)   -  Calayan (off northern Luzon), in northern Philippines. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Snowy-browed Flycatcher (Ficedula hyperythra).
  • luzoniensis (Ogilvie-Grant, 1894)   -  Luzon and Mindoro (northern Philippines). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Snowy-browed Flycatcher (Ficedula hyperythra).
  • nigrorum (Whitehead, J, 1897)   -  West-central Philippines (Panay, Negros). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Snowy-browed Flycatcher (Ficedula hyperythra).
  • montigena (Mearns, 1905)   -  Mt Kitanglad, Mt McKinley and Mt Apo, in central Mindanao. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Snowy-browed Flycatcher (Ficedula hyperythra).
  • matutumensis Kennedy, 1987   -  Mt Busa and Mt Matutum, in southern Mindanao. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Snowy-browed Flycatcher (Ficedula hyperythra).
  • daggayana Meyer de Schauensee & duPont, 1962   -  North-central Mindanao (Misamis Oriental province). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Snowy-browed Flycatcher (Ficedula hyperythra).
  • malindangensis Rand & Rabor, 1957   -  Mt Malindang, in north-western Mindanao (southern Philippines). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Snowy-browed Flycatcher (Ficedula hyperythra).
