Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

cucullatus (Milne-Edwards & Oustalet, 1885) - Comoros.
moheliensis (Benson, 1960) - Moh�li (Mwali), in Comoro Is. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Madagascar Cuckooshrike (Ceblepyris cinereus).
