Habitat
Coastal vegetation, dry scrub, edges of banana plantations, plantation forest, secondary and primary forest. From sea-level - 700 m.
St Lucia (B) (NB).
St Lucia, in central Lesser Antilles.

Currently this species is not classified as a rarity in this country OR information has not been updated.
Population
Estimated population is 1,000 - 2,499 (2010).
Status NT
Pesticide spraying, habitat loss, parasitism by Shiny Cowbird (Molothrus bonariensis ) and harassment by Spectacled Thrush (Turdus nudigenis ) are the main threats.

Subspecies
No subspecies.
Formerly considered conspecific with Montserrat Oriole (Icterus oberi ). Relationships uncertain. Analysis of mitochondrial DNA indicates that it is not closest relative of Martinique Oriole (Icterus bonana ), although the two are separated geographically by only 27 km.
